Unicare Summer 2025 Student Volunteer Program – Overview Unicare Health Services is proud to launch its Summer 2025 Volunteer Program, aimed at fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals by offering structured, meaningful volunteer experiences across our service areas in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Tyler, Texas. This program is open to undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Med, Neuroscience, Health Administration, Health Sciences, or Developmental Life Sciences focused on Aging. Students will be placed in roles that align with their interests and academic goals while supporting Unicare’s mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to individuals across a variety of care settings. 📅 Key Dates Application Period: April 11 – May 9, 2025 Interview & Selection: Conducted on a rolling basis during April Mandatory Orientation & Training: May 15–16, 2025 Program Duration: May 19 – August 31, 2025 💼 Volunteer Roles 1.⁠ ⁠Scribing (Internal) Students will shadow licensed nurses or social workers, supporting clinical documentation and gaining direct exposure to patient care in a controlled, supervised environment. 2.⁠ ⁠Office Assistance (Internal) Students will assist with day-to-day administrative functions, gaining experience in healthcare operations, scheduling, records management, and support functions crucial to efficient care delivery. 3.⁠ ⁠Assisted Living Community Engagement (External) Volunteers will be placed at partner Assisted Living Facilities to provide non-clinical support through companionship, light activities, and emotional engagement that improves residents' quality of life. 4.⁠ ⁠Memory Care Volunteer Assistance (External) Volunteers will serve at Memory Care Facilities, supporting structured engagement activities for residents living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
